The Bible reveals that the true and living God answers with supernatural power. At the dedication of the tabernacle of Moses, fire fell from heaven and lit the altar and consumed the sacrifice. Elijah challenged the false priests of Baal to a duel. He said, let the true God answer with fire. For half the day the false prophets danced, shouted, cried, pleaded and cut themselves. Absolutely nothing happened. Then Elijah prayed a short prayed and immediately fire fell from heaven and lapped up the altar leaving nothing behind.
Hebrews 12:29 says God is a consuming fire. A pillar of fire burned above the tabernacle. By it the people were led through the wilderness. Fire represents God, the Holy Spirit. It is His presence and miraculous power.
On the day of Pentecost one hundred and twenty followers of Jesus were praying together. Tongues of fire came from heaven and hovered over each of them. This was a sign to the rest of the world that God is on the scene and ready to make Himself known.
God still answers by fire. This means, as you pray, nothing is impossible for God. If you or someone else needs a miracle, the Christian can point them to the God of miracles where He will answer with divine power - fire from heaven.
It is pure wisdom from heaven to establish two prayer partner relationships. This is a three strand cord that will put your spiritual life on turbo charge and bring quicker breakthrough and maturity.
“Two are better than one, because they have good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up...Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Eccl 4:9-10,12
The Lord has been speaking to my heart about practical elements to make the church a place of nurture and protection.
It is very important to understand that we have a supernatural enemy at work to destroy our lives. Jesus taught his disciples to pray for protection from temptation and for deliverance from the Devil. The Bible reveals not only one being who’s name is Satan, but an entire kingdom of intelligent beings bent on evil and destruction. These invisible personalities are called demons.
Demons are very real and intelligent beings within Satan’s kingdom with the express agenda of keeping human being from coming to Jesus. If they fail in that directive, their next agenda is to keep the believer bound and unable to grow into maturity and Christ-likeness.
We need to build a protective hedge in our lives. We are in a real battle with a real enemy that is in the unseen realm roaming about like a lion seeking those to devour ( I Peter 5:8 ). A lion looks for pray that is young, injured or straying off alone. They tend to stay away from healthy animals that are close to the pack. The pack offers protection.
In the body of Christ, all to often, we find ourselves alone when combating temptation, areas that need deliverance and spiritual growth. The principle of scripture teaches us that two is better than one when it comes to getting something accomplished. And that three is even better.
“Two are better than one, because they have good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up...Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Eccl 4:9-10,12
Jesus revealed the way to build this protective covering is through prayer. The prayer outline Jesus taught in Matthew 6 instructs us to pray for one another, not ourselves alone. You cannot find an “I” or “me” in this prayer, but “us”.
When it comes to our spiritual lives in Christ, our help is not by natural means. Our help must comes from God. And God has put prayer at the forefront of our spiritual arsenal.
“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them.” Mt. 18:19-20.
