How to Pray for the Salvation of Sinners

The function of the priest is to stand before God on behalf of those who can’t come before God due to the sin in their lives. The priest also brings messages from God to people who can’t receive them because of the sin in their lives. With this understanding the Breastplate Prayer is designed to pray for 3 family members who are lost, 3 friends who are lost, 3 co-workers or neighbors who are lost or the combination of the two, and 3 strangers who are lost. 

Print the Breastplate Prayer form and write out the names of 12 sinners that need to find Jesus. Pray for them daily to come into life in Jesus Christ. As they come to the Lord, replace them with another sinner.  

Some help from scripture to guide your intercession for those that do not know Jesus as Lord.
  • Pray that they will seek to know God
Acts 17:27 (KJV) That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

  • Loose the blinding powers of Satan so they can see the truth
2 Cor. 4:4 (KJV) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

  • Pray for the Holy Spirit’s work in them. Pray for a deep conviction of sin, righteousness and eternal judgment.
John 16:8-13 (KJV) And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [9] Of sin, because they believe not on me; [10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; [11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. [12] I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. [13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

  • Ask God to send someone to lead them to Christ
Matthew 9:37-38 (KJV) Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; [38] Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

  • Pray that they would believe the Scriptures
1 Thes. 2:13 (KJV) For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  • Pray that they will believe in Christ as Savior
John 1:12 (KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name: 

John 5:24 (KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that
sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 Pt 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God...

1 Tim 2:1 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--

Heb 5:1 Every high priest is selected from among men and is appointed to represent them in matters related to God,
